reverseracism:

When people claim that willfully ignorant opinions that support systems of oppression and discrimination are the other side of the argument and should be given the same respect in order to have a balanced exchanged.

Self-love cannot flourish in isolation. It is no easy task to be self-loving. Simple axioms that make self-love sound easy only make matters worse. It leaves many people wondering why, if it is so easy, they continue to be trapped by feelings of low self-esteem or self-hatred. Using a working definition of love that tells us it is the action we take on behalf of our own or another’s spiritual growth provides us with a beginning blueprint for working on the issue of self-love.

Airglow
by Brian Larmay
Airglow (also called nightglow) is the very weak emission of light by a planetary atmosphere. In the case of Earth’s atmosphere, this optical phenomenon causes the night sky to never be completely dark (even after the effects of starlight and diffused sunlight from the far side are removed).[**]

“Queer Rage” from LGBT Students of Color: Poetry Performance Critiques Marriage Politics, and Is Badass

“This poem, “Marriage”, also known as “Queer Rage”, is a critique of gay marriage politics as a strategy of liberation. Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage (or anyone else’s) is not where the struggle ends, or even begins, really. In the piece we call for a consideration of race, class, and other systems of control that complicate and intersect with queerness. We also point to the increasing corporatization and overwhelming whiteness of gay marriage politics. Overall, we point to a more critical consideration of violence and material oppression that is linked to queerness, and how insufficient marriage equality is in this regard. This piece was performed by the Stanford Slam Poetry team at the 2012 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.” - QWOC Media Wire

Queer Rage by Janani Balasubramanian, ’12, Alok Vaid-Menon, ’13, and Cam Awkward-Rich

Perfect.

Alok Vaid-Menon is coming to Brown on April 8th for a workshop on racialized sexual desire, actually (“Protect me from what I want”)! Unfortunately due to community fuckwittery painting the event as some sort of “racist anti-white segregation liberal nonsense” we’ve had to close the event to students only unless you ask beforehand. But this is good and it will be good.

I kiss down your body. You let out a moan. I continue down, my tongue running to your clit. You arch your back as I keep going, my lips pressed against your inner thigh. Lower and lower I go, until I hit your ankles. You look down, confused, as I kiss my way off your body and onto the ground. Kissing my way right out the door of your bedroom and into your fridge. I eat all your food and then proceed to leave without a word.
